Yeast Project

We decided that there is so many wonderful yeast strains out there, we should find the one that works best for mead. At least, our meads. We then searched around to find a side by side comparison of each easy to get purchase yeast. We found none. Did that stop us, of course not. If the internet could not solve our question, then we will do it our selves. and this is what we found.

Look: Slight yellow, clear, lemon like, watery, and slight tearing.

Smell: fruity, white wine like.

Taste: pear like, slight bitter, candy sweet, syrup mouth feel, and tangerine bitter after taste.

Overall: surprise fruity with elite pear, near wine like. Good look, great smell, to sweet.

Look: Lemon yellow and very clear

 

Smell: Faint, bread like, honey, wine esters

 

Taste: Fruity, medium mouth feel, lemon candy, hints of bitter after taste. Faint strawberry candy. Beer like hint in after taste.

Look: Lemon yellow. Heavy tearing on the side of the glass, yet water like.

 

Smell: Hint of alcohol. Hints of fruit and honey. Water down version of white wine.

 

Taste: Very fruity, mainly lemon and orange, with hints of honey. The taste then turns sour. Leaving a biter after taste. Mouthfeel is very watery.

 

Overall: It has a nice look, with a great soft smell. Probably best served cold. It is very white wine like. Aging may kill the sour/bitter taste.

Look: Dark yellow. Very clear. Slight tearing on the side of the glass. Water like.

 

Smell: Very lite. Fruity, headed by lemon. White wine esters.

 

Taste: Fruity, with hints of orange and lemon, tempered by a faint honey. Faint white wine background, with a slight bitter at the end. Mouth feel is a slight syrup. Full tasting.

 

Overall: Good color and taste. Should age well. Soft scent makes it deceptive.

Look: clear, lemon yellow with hints of honey brown. Lightly tears up.

Smell: very lite. Almost non-existent. Faint mead like with hint of alcohol.

Taste: lite, touch of fruit and bread. Falls off the tongue fairly clear, but does has a lingering mouth feel heavy ness. Slight bitter end.

Overall: great look, gentle nose and fair taste. Will be great on ice.

Look: pale gold/lemon, very clear?

Smell: lite scent, fruity notes, hint of honey and yeast

Taste: lite, yeast taste, fruity notes

Overall: lite with fruity notes, best served cold. Summer mead. Will mount up on the yeast taste to a bitter flavor.

Looks: faint yellow, very clear. Watery look. Does not want to tear up on the glass

Smell: lite smell with honey after tone. Watery white wine.

Taste: candy orange, faint honey, faint short lasting bitter after taste, falls off the tongue clean.

Overall: should be served cold. Could make a good payment. Almost to sweet. The look is descriptive.

Smell: lite smell, lemon like

Taste: sweet, lemon sour hints, faint taste of dry wine, touch of orange, dash of honey, bitter end grows.

Overall: lite and nice, best cold. Bitter notes end heavier as one drinks it.

Look: Beautiful. Cleared fully on it oun. Lemon yellow with hints of brown.

Smell: Yeastish, lemon orange with honey in the back.

Taste: Heavy bitter yeast, hint of candy lemon. Bitter yeast on the back. Bad orange. Mouth feel is lite.

Overall: this has a great look, but rott on the inside.

Taste: orange lemon with a dash of honey. Faint hint of bitter at the back.

Overall: beautiful look, lite taste and seems best served cold on hot days.  Should make good melomel.

Taste: lemon honey, a elite off taste, not off putting, chocolate peanut on the back, short hang time.

Overall: not bad after it had the chance to breath.

Smell: lemon orange, faint wine. Faint overall.

Taste: perfectly tart. Lemon candy drops with hints of honey and orange.

Overall: good for a summer mead. Will need help to clear.
